National Brain Research program travel grant

With the support of the NAP3 travel grant, Dr. Rita Frank will undertake a laboratory visit at Oregon Health & Science University (Portland, USA) between May 16 and May 30, 2026, in the laboratory of Dr. Anusha Mishra. The purpose of the visit is to learn brain slice–based methods for investigating neurovascular coupling. As part of the visit, she will also attend the Neurology Research Day on May 21, which will provide an opportunity to build international collaborations and to learn about current research directions in the field.

ROMCON 2026

The Romhányi György College of the Medical Faculty of the University of Pécs held the ROMCON 2026 international scientific conference between March 5 and 8, 2026. At the event, domestic and international university students had the opportunity to present their research results and to network with students and lecturers from other institutions. We are proud that the presentations of two TDK students from our department, Elsherbini Abdelrahman and Pető Sára, were awarded first and second prize by the jury. Warmly congratulations to our students!

Support from the SZAOK Faculty Research Fund

In 2025, the Albert Szent-Györgyi School of Medicine announced calls for applications to the SZAOK Faculty Research Fund, aimed at supporting promising research projects conducted by teaching and research staff of SZAOK departments. We are proud to announce that our colleagues Dr. Anita Annaházi was awarded the Albert Szent-Györgyi Grant, and Dr. Rita Frank received the Postdoctoral Research Grant. Congratulations to both awardees on their successful grants!

Awarding of PhD degrees

The new habilitations and PhD degrees of the University of Szeged were awarded on January 30, 2026, in the congress hall of the József Attila Study and Information Center. The Inauguration Council awarded PhD degrees to, among others, our colleague Dr. István Pesti. Congratulations on the achievement!

Appointment

Our colleague, Dr. Melinda Szabó, lecturer and researcher, has been appointed assistant professor at the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School with the unanimous support of the Faculty Council, effective January 1, 2026. Congratulations!

Prof. Dr. András Dinnyés was elected to the board

 

   The Management meeting and General Assembly of the Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology (HUPHAR) was held on April 26, where Prof. Dr. András Dinnyés, who is also the chair of the HUPHAR Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) Section, was elected to the board. Congratulations!
